A man is lying seriously injured in hospital following an attack in Moss Side that happened yesterday evening.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has confirmed that the incident happened at around 5.15pm on Thursday 12 May 2016 just off Princess Road.
Officers were called to reports of a disturbance in the street. Upon arrival they found a 19-year-old man with a number of stab wounds and abdominal injuries following a collision with a car.
After being taken to hospital, where he remains, he is undergoing surgery and is still in a serious condition.
Superintendent Steve Howard from GMP’s South Manchester division said: “We believe this was a targeted attack and we are also investigating a number of separate reports of a group of men chasing a lone male down Greenheys Lane around this same time.
“This all took place in a busy street during rush hour traffic and we know this will have been witnessed by a large number of people. If you were near to the Asda or Royal Brewery at around 5.15pm and you saw or heard anything that you think may be linked to this attack, please call police in South Manchester on 101.
“We are also keen to hear from anyone who may have been driving in the area around the time of this incident who may have captured anything on dash cam footage”.
