A man in Wythenshawe was attacked with a meat cleaver in broad daylight earlier this week, following a vehicle collision on Tuesday morning.
Police were called to Cornishway in Wythenshawe just before 11.20am on 14 June, where witnesses said a red VW Golf had crashed into a gate post while being followed by a black BMW.
The occupants of the BMW then attacked the male passenger of the Golf with a meat cleaver, before getting back in their car and driving away at speed.
Detective Inspector Tony Lea from GMP’s South Manchester Neighbourhood Team said: “This is a baffling incident and we are keen to work out exactly what happened and what lead to this vicious attack.
“We are keen to identify the black BMW and the occupants so we are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward”.
The victim is now being treated for his injuries in hospital, and police are appealing for anyone who may have seen either car to come forward with information.
DI Lea added: “It is shocking that such an attack could happen in broad daylight. I’m sure someone will have seen the two vehicles before the attack”.
