A man has been jailed after police executed a warrant at an address in Wythenshawe, seizing over £600 of cocaine along with a shotgun and handgun.
Police attended an address belonging to Steven Powell, of Brinnington, in November 2015 where they discovered the weapons.
Armed response officers were then called to make the weapons safe, at which point they discovered ammunition and a silencer.
Detective Inspector David Loughlin of GMP’s Tameside team said: “I hope that the sentence passed here today will send a clear message that we remain very much active in our fight rid our streets of firearms.
Powell was sentenced to 8 years in prison on Monday 20 June.
The 52-year-old pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition without a certificate and possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply at an earlier hearing.
