Police are appealing for witnesses after a 30-year-old man was brutally assaulted in a Bury bar.
At around 2.45am on Sunday 31 January the victim was in Pics Bar in Bury town centre when a fight broke out near to where he was standing. As he tried to calm the situation down he was dragged towards the rear fire doors by a number of unknown men, one of whom had his hand around the victim’s throat.
The victim then found himself outside on his hands and knees with blood running down his face, he has no recollection of how he sustained the injuries. The man was taken to Salford Royal hospital with a fractured skull, facial bruising and a gash across his head.
Detective Constable Philip Slater of Greater Manchester Police’s Bury Division has stated “This was a man enjoying a night out with friends when he was subjected to an unprovoked and violent attack after he attempted to calm down an aggressive situation”.
He continued, “We are keen to speak to anybody who may have witnessed the incident or has any information about what happened”.
