Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have released a CCTV image of a man they are hunting in connection with the armed robbery of a bookmakers in Manchester city centre.
At around 8:40pm on Saturday 12 March, the robber ordered the manager of Ladbrokes on Portland Street to empty the gaming machines and tills at knife-point. He had spent several hours placing bets in the store during that day and fled with a large quantity of cash following the stick-up.
The man was described as white, between 5ft 11in and 6ft tall, with a very slim build, short dark brown or black hair and a thin face. He spoke with an Eastern European accent and was wearing a black cross diamond patterned jacket with a dark hooded top underneath and light blue jeans.
GMP’s Detective Constable Sarah Wright said: “This desperate thief was clearly biding his time until there was only one member of staff left on their own.
“The manager managed to get a good look at him of course, but we have been unable to find the offender. That is why we have decided to release the photo of the suspect today and we hope that anyone who recognises him will call the police.”
