Students and staff at Manchester Academy are celebrating their GCSE results after 51% of students achieved a grade 4 or above in both English and Maths. There were particularly strong results in maths, with seven students achieving the top grade 9 in Maths and 100% of students achieving an A* or A in Further Maths.
The academy’s highest performing student Taha Al Mansouri achieved 86.5 points across 12 qualifications. He achieved four 9s, one A^, one A*, one 8, 6, two 5s, one 4 and one B. He said:
“I’m very pleased and I did a lot better than I thought. I’m going to do A-Levels in Maths, Physics and Computer Science at Loreto College. I’m really going to miss my time at Manchester Academy. It’s like a real community and the teachers are brilliant.”
Twins Iman and Gihan Achaiba were thrilled with their results. Iman, who received four 6s, two 5s, two 4s, one A* and two Bs, said: “I was very scared at first about opening my results but I’m very happy.”
Iman is going to Loreto College to study A Levels in Accounting, Economics and Business Studies.
Gihan achieved two 4s, six 5s, one 6, one 7 and one A*. She said:
“My belly was aching and I was shaking before I opened my results but when I saw them I felt very relieved. I’m really going to miss my time at Manchester Academy. I’ve made a lot of friends and the teachers really helped me get good grades.”
Molly Hopkins, who achieved a Level 1 Merit in Music, three 6s, two 5s, three 3s and one 4, said:
“I felt horrible before I opened my results. I was so nervous. I’m really pleased with how I did and I’m really looking forward to going to music college.”
Ilona Bognar achieved four As, three 7s, one A*, one B and two 6s. She said:
“I was so nervous before I opened my results but I’m so happy. I did a lot better than I thought I was going to do. I’m going to go to Loreto or Xavarian College to study Biology, Chemistry and Maths.”
