Celebrations belong to the end of year. Following suit, Manchester Academy staged its annual awards ceremony at Manchester Central at the end of November 2015.
The Academy celebrated their students’ successes with John Shiels, Chief Executive of the Manchester United Foundation, and the Academy’s Principal Andy Griffin, along with the governing body to present the awards.
Special guest John Shiels delivered an inspirational speech; citing the key factors required to succeed. He also made a point that it is not about where you are from, or how much wealth you have, but your input and determination to succeed which makes all the difference.
The evening celebrated the achievements of current students with prizes for each individual form, year group and subject area, whilst also honouring the academy’s former Year 11 pupils.
The Achievement award was well deserved by Awyas Nasim with 7A*, 3A’s and 1B. Some students received more than one award including former Year 11s Omar Jeylani and Yusuf Nuur; who each walked away with three awards. For Yusuf, who is deaf, this is an extraordinary achievement.
Mr Griffin said, “It’s incredibly important to recognise our students’ achievements and what better place to do it than the heart of our city because I know our pupils will contribute to its future success.”
