Students and staff at Manchester Academy have been celebrating after receiving their GCSE results, which equal the academy’s best ever performance and show a significant jump from last year’s results.
“Everyone was disappointed when our results dipped last year and we were determined not to let that get in the way of our trend of overall improvement as a school”, Manchester Academy’s Executive Principal, Andy Griffin said.
“We challenged students and staff to set themselves high aspirations for the year and I am very proud that these results demonstrate this has worked.
“I would like to congratulate our students and thank our staff for their hard work and commitment during the year. These results will intensify our resolve to continue this improvement across the school and we look forward to a successful academic year ahead.
“These results will open the door for our students to now go on to Sixth Form College and university or into apprenticeships and the workplace. We are very pleased for them and wish them continued success in the future.”
There were some notable individual successes at the academy: Sorvat Kazemi, Alani Anazim, Hanan Nur, Yazeed Airayani, Jyyad Ali, Islam Al Dakhla Allah, Danyaal Anwar and Leon Phung all averaged Grade As across the board. There were also spectacular performances in GCSE further Mathematics where seven students; Jyyad Ali, Yazeed Alrayani, Alani Anazim, Danyaal Anwar, Sorvat Kazemi, Adil Khan and Samuel Remi-Akniwale gained A* distinction.
