An occasion that positively promotes the Caribbean, Miss Caribbean UK (MCUK) beauty pageant is back this year and one of its heats will be in Manchester.
This year’s event will be the fifth occasion in which ladies from across the UK have battled it out in style for the crown.
With one of the heats this year being in Manchester, 2018’s campaign is inviting young ladies from Bolton, Leeds, Stockport, Rochdale, Sheffield and Preston. To apply, they each have to be of Caribbean descent and between the ages of 18 to 30.
Last year’s event saw Grenada’s Elizabeth Williams named Miss Caribbean UK 2017. This year ladies are invited to apply for the chance to be crowned the 2018 UK Queen of the Caribbean. There is also a £1000 cash prize with a free trip to the country you represent. Additionally, there are many more prizes.
Founded by Jacqui Brown and Clayton Brown, MCUK has been giving young women a chance to make a difference whilst maximising their full potential as Miss Caribbean UK. In her new role as ambassador of the Caribbean, last year’s winner Williams spoke on the issues affecting the region. She highlighted how governments, private businesses, organisations and other stakeholders can unite to bring solutions for the next generations.
The auditions in Manchester will be in front of an audience on Saturday 7 July at The Hough End Centre in Chorlton. Hosted by Sweet T & Sam Brown, the first round will start at 7pm. To apply, ladies are required to complete an application form at http://www.misscaribbeanuk.com
Admission for the audience will be £10 which includes a Caribbean Buffet and entertainment from Lutenants, Tee Dancer and Shaneka.
