A Manchester United fan made the ultimate proposal on Old Trafford stadium’s pitch on Valentine’s Day.
United fan, Scott Maidman became the first person to propose on the pitch when he proposed to his girlfriend. The thoughtful Valentine’s gesture was well planned, bringing the couple back to the start of their journey.
Scott met girlfriend Harriet Burgess in the South Stand of the Old Trafford stadium 3 years ago. With the help of United’s staff Scott was able to give his girlfriend the surprise of her life.
Scott contacted United; after a member of the club accepted his request the proposal was planned. Harriet was under the impression that she was attending a private tour of the stadium – which she had arranged.
When the couple made it to the pitch, Scott revealed that they were not really on a tour. Scott then got down on one knee and proposed. Harriet, who was overjoyed, accepted the proposal.
The newly engaged couple has received congratulatory messages from united players, Michael Carrick and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The messages were delivered through a congratulatory video.
Ibrahimovic wished the couple best wishes from himself and the club.
Carrick said “Scott and Harriet, massive congratulations on your engagement, great news. I’m so pleased for you”.
The couple also enjoyed a dinner in Chevrolet’s Centennial club suite.
The pitch-side proposal comes after a series of other pitch-side proposals. In January 2016, a young couple became engaged on Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge pitch before a Chelsea vs West Brom match.
In August 2016, a man proposed to his girlfriend during half time of a match. The match was held at Bristol’s Aston Gate stadium.
Perhaps the Old Trafford stadium will be the perfect wedding venue for the couple’s wedding.
