Manchester’s ‘Be Proud Awards’

Nominations are being collected for the Manchester ‘Be proud Awards’, taking place at the Great Hall of Manchester Town Hall.

The awards evening is designed to recognise the people who in some way or another, work hard to better our community.

@ManCityCouncil have tweeted an appeal for suggestions, saying, “Do you have a local hero? Why not nominate them for a Be Proud Award?”

There are 10 categories in total, some of which have awards for both an individual and a group of people.

The categories include ‘Community Force’, acknowledging how someone has made the community safer, and ‘Unsung Hero’, awarding someone’s contribution to Manchester that has gone unnoticed.

Many organisations are sponsors of the awards and this year these include Manchester Airport, Southway Housing Trust and Manchester Arndale.

The event last ran back in December 2015, with 13 awards given out throughout the evening. The celebration was described as “a fabulous evening, thoroughly enjoyed by all!”

If you have someone in mind that you think deserves an award this year, send in your nominations to the Manchester Gov website by Friday 30 September.
