Mica Paris sings Ella Fitzgerald for Valentines

Singer Mica Paris will perform renditions of Ella Fitzgerald classics during a five day UK tour in February 2018. Which coincidentally hits Manchester on Valentines Day.

Ella Fitzgerald is one of the most revered jazz singers of the 20th century. An American jazz pioneer often referred to as the First Lady of Song, Queen of Jazz and Lady Ella. She was noted for her purity of tone, impeccable diction, and a “horn-like” improvisational ability, particularly in her scat singing.

Mica Paris is one of the UK’s most respected female singers with a career full of hit singles and albums worldwide. Her albums and singles include Black Angel, Stay and Carefree, together with collaborations with David Gilmour, Prince and Jools Holland. Before turning her many talents to London’s West End stage starring in Mama I Want to Sing, The Vagina Monologues and Sweet Lorraine.

In April 2017, Mica Paris released two tracks with legendary trumpeter, jazz producer and arranger Guy Barker to celebrate the centenary of Ella Fitzgerald’s birth. Mica recorded Imagine My Frustration and Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye – two classics from the Ella Fitzgerald portfolio.

Mica was introduced to the vocal brilliance of Ella Fitzgerald as a child. She grew up in a house where her father was obsessed with jazz and would play her songs religiously.

Mica Paris said: “I feel as though I’ve come back home singing Jazz…”

Expect to hear many of Ella’s wonderful songs during this special evening in Manchester at the Ruby Lounge.
