Tasia Floissac, the current Miss Dominica, took home the Jaycee Queen International crown last Sunday on 24 July.
The Jaycees International Queen Show, which was held in Antigua, is a pageant held under the main theme of “empowering women through pageantry”.
The competition celebrates the unity of the national queens from both the region and further afield, to express the rich culture and heritage of their homeland. Contestants are praised for their individuality in talent, gown, public speaking, physical fitness and poise.
Sunday’s show marked the 55th annual competition. This year’s participants included: Miss Antigua and Barbuda, Miss Barbados, Miss Dominica, Miss Montserrat, Miss Nevis, Miss St. Kitts, Miss St. Lucia, Miss St. Vincent, Miss Trinidad and Miss USA.
The Jaycee International Queen award marked Flosiac’s (Miss Dominica’s) first regional crown. The 22 year-old also won prizes in the Miss Photogenic, Best in Swimwear, Best Performing Talent, and Best Interview categories.
First runner-up position went to Miss Antigua and Barbuda while Miss Nevis took second runner-up position.
