Mosscare St Vincent’s Housing: Investing in Moss Side for over 50 years

If you’re out and about in Moss Side you can’t help but notice there is some significant building work going on at the old Stagecoach Bus Depot Site on Princess Road.

Having stood empty for many years, this important and central site, (just a few minutes in the car to the city centre) is now undergoing some work; transforming it into much needed homes for local people.

Mosscare St Vincent’s Housing Group (MSV) is one of the partners involved in this development, now known as The Depot.

MSV is developing 72 apartments providing extra care for older people and 30 shared ownership homes for young people and those needing to get on the property ladder. Both developments are expected to be complete and ready for residents to move in next year, in Spring 2020.

Many MSV customers, and those familiar with Great Western Street, will remember the old MSV office situated at No 101 Great Western Street. Since moving the office to more suitable premises in Stretford, this building has stood empty. However, plans have now been submitted to build a community hub and 24 apartments.

The community hub will be open to local people, community groups and charities as a meeting space and somewhere to bring people together.

MSV has been working and investing in the Moss Side area for over 50 years. From the very beginning its work has been about providing good quality homes and services for local people.

However, that’s not all, MSV values the work to engage with people in the area just as much as the bricks and mortar that make up the new homes.

MSV is currently running a number of projects in Moss Side including an intergenerational project bringing together younger and older members of the community, to create a stunning mosaic which will form the centre piece of our extra-care accommodation.

Additionally, the housing association will, once again, be sponsoring the Manchester Caribbean Carnival, an important cultural event and part of the area’s identity.

If you are interested in applying for either the extra care or shared ownership properties, MSV’s website will be going live at the end of May.

Please keep an eye on the site hoardings for more details. If you would like to discuss any aspect of our work in the area please get in touch at
