Following reports of two people being assaulted on Claybank Street in Rochdale’s Heywood, Greater Manchester Police found a man stabbed to death at his home.
The alarm was raised to police via a 999 emergency phone-call on the evening of Easter Sunday. Upon arrival, the police discovered that a 52 year-old man had been stabbed before later dying in hospital where medics couldn’t save him. His name is yet to be released.
A 37 year-old woman who was present at the house is believed to have suffered facial injuries. In a statement, The Greater Manchester Police said a 34 year-old man was in custody for questioning.
The tragic attack is said to have been “an isolated incident”, the police have said.
Detective Chief Inspector John Harris said: “The news a man has been murdered, coupled with the police presence at the address, will most likely cause some concern to residents.
“We will have officers in and around the area should any residents wish to come and talk to us or pass on any information they may have about this terrible incident.”
TNT will bring you more information on any arrests as the investigation develops.
