A new head teacher has been appointed for Didsbury’s Parrs Wood High School.
Mark McElwee was appointed Head teacher by the Trustees of Greater Manchester Learning Trust. He will start the post in April following the departure of current head teacher Andy Shakos.
McElwee has worked at Parrs Wood for 8 years. He firstly joined as an Assistant head teacher and Science teacher before being promoted to Deputy Head teacher.
The soon-to-be head teacher has played a significant role within the school. He has secured the schools upward trajectory in standards and outcomes.
Suzannah Reeves, Chair of Greater Manchester Learning Trust, said, “Mark’s appointment is great news for the school”. Reeves said that McElwee “is sure” to be a “popular choice” amongst pupils, staff and parents.
Mark is a “well-liked” staff member who is respected. He also has the “experience and skills” needed to lead the school.
Reeves said, “We’re very much looking forward to his leadership of the school”.
The new head teacher will maintain the good standards of the Didsbury High school.
