Police appeal after man kidnapped in Burnage

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) are appealing for information after a man was kidnapped in Burnage.

Just before 8pm on Wednesday 7 September 2016, a man was walking along Kingsway, when a dark blue Audi Q7 pulled up next to him.

Three men wearing balaclavas jumped out and bundled him into the car before hitting him around the face with a handgun and took his mobile phone.

The 31-year-old victim managed to escape the vehicle close to Leaburn Drive. He suffered minor head injuries.

An investigation has been launched and police are now appealing for witnesses.

Detective Inspector Gary Smith, of GMP’s City of Manchester team, said: “This was obviously a terrifying experience for the victim which has left him extremely shaken.

“This happened on a very busy road when people would have been around and seen something.

“We are also keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a dark Audi A3, a purple Fiat or a silver Mercedes A class in the area at the time.

“I would urge anybody who has any information to contact the police”.

Anyone with information should police on 0161 856 4882, quoting incident number 2254, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
