Police on the hunt for city centre attacker

Police are looking for a man who attempted to rape a woman in Manchester city centre.

At around 3.15am on Friday 10 July 2015, a man approached a 32-year-old woman on St Andrew’s Street, Piccadilly and she agreed to walk with him.  When they got to nearby waste ground, he attempted to rape her but she fought him off and ran away.

The man followed her and continued to attack her on Fairfield Street but she managed to flag down passing cars and the man rode off on a pedal bike.

The man is described as being black, in his 30’s, of medium to stocky build, and had neat tight dread locks in a bob style.

Detective Constable Kimberley Hames-Evans said, “The victim has been left shaken by her ordeal and specially trained officers have been supporting her.  I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the attack or saw a man fitting the description cycling away from the scene to call police as soon as possible.”
