For fans hoping to make a pilgrimage to Prince’s grave, there is some disappointment in store – his final resting place is to remain a secret.
Just less than a week after his release from an emergency visit to hospital, the late American musician was found dead in a lift at his Paisley Park estate on Thursday 21 April, aged 57.
The hugely popular star was cremated in the presence of three family members. Following the £1,110 cremation, at the First Memorial Western Chapel in Minneapolis, his sister Tykka and her son Prez were seen carrying his ashes, according to US reports.
Subsequently, there was also a private memorial service at Prince’s estate two days after his passing.
The music legend’s publicist Yvette Noel-Schure said: “Prince’s remains have been cremated and their final storage will remain private”.
Having burst on the music scene in the 1980s, the 57-year-old became a global superstar with albums such as 1999 and Purple Rain.
