Having put himself on a long hiatus from the boxing world and all things linked to it, Ricky ‘The Hitman’ Hatton MBE is back. He was bound to turn up any time soon; with his love for the sport. And what better place for a ‘comeback’ than his home town, Manchester.
Ok, he is not exactly back in the ring. The former World Boxing Association (WBA) Light Welterweight Champion who was born in Stockport, is in Manchester’s Victoria Warehouse today.
Ricky has announced his first ever event in our city, which will be a Las Vegas themed party. From 8.00pm to 4.00am – with the last entry at 11.00pm – the party will celebrate his winning of the World Title, 10 years ago in the legendary fight against Kostya Tszyu.
All proceeds from the event will go to Ricky’s two nominated Manchester charities Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention & Barnabus Manchester.
The event’s theme will include aerialists, magicians, casinos and much more. The iconic, multi-roomed venue [Victoria Warehouse] will also pay homage to Ricky Hatton’s successful boxing career. The Main Room will have DJ Bez and Vince Vegas with live acts such as Black Grape, The Stone Roses, The Oasis Experience, Northside and much more.
Fans will also get a chance to meet and greet the legendary boxer himself. The minimum age for entry is 18 and the event is expected to attract many fans, so get yourself a ticket pronto.
