Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes Liverpool will beat Manchester City to win the Premier League title, according to Jonathan Walters.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently two points clear of City at the top of the Premier League but Pep Guardiola’s men have a game in hand and will retain the title if they win all five of their remaining matches.
Klopp has already admitted that he expects City to not drop any more points for the remainder of the season.
However, ex-Republic of Ireland striker Walters has revealed that his former teammate Phil Bardsley told him that Ferguson backed Liverpool to win the title as Manchester City will slip up against United next week.
After playing Tottenham at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, City travel to Old Trafford for their clash against United next Wednesday.
‘I was chatting with Phil Bardsley and I’m gonna drop a name here, he was sat with Sir Alex Ferguson,’ Walters told BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily podcast.
‘He sat with him and he thinks Liverpool are going win it. ‘He thinks Liverpool because he thinks United will get something out of the City game.’
