What’s New Pussycat? The story of legend Sir Tom Jones is to be told in a new musical at The Lowry. Scheduled from 25 to 28 May, the Musical will take Salford back to the Sixties, to follow Sir Tom’s extraordinary journey to international superstardom.
Produced by Theatr na nÓg, the show had its world premiere at Wales Millennium Centre, in Sir Tom’s home country, in March this year. It
With Kit Orton playing as Sir Tom, ‘Tom. A Story of Tom Jones. The Musical’ will be taking audiences back to the dance halls, working men’s clubs and recording studios of the ‘60s.
This inspirational story of self-belief and determination is performed live on stage by a cast of actors and musicians; featuring hits of the era including ‘Ghost Riders in the Sky’, ‘Spanish Harlem’ and ‘Lucille’.
The show will include hits that made him one of the most charismatic stars of the day: ‘It’s Not Unusual’, ‘Delilah’, ‘Green, Green Grass of Home’, ‘What’s New Pussycat’ and more.
Written by Mike James and directed by Geinor Styles, the Musical came to fruition with the support of the Arts Council of Wales, Welsh Government, RCT, NPT Theatres and Wales Millennium Centre.
