This year’s annual ‘Solace summit’ is set to be held at the Emirates Old Trafford between 1 and 3 November.
Solace stands for the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives and is the UK’s largest gathering of these individuals. 2017’s summit will see more than 300 chief executives and senior managers gather at the Manchester venue.
The aims of the summit are to hold debates on topics such as the future of public services. By having these conversations, it can be ensured that policies are informed by the experienced members of the services.
The Point event space in Emirates Old Trafford will hold the main conference. Graeme McDonald – group director of Solace – has released a statement about the event and its chosen venue:
“Emirates Old Trafford provides the perfect venue for senior staff from UK local government, offering a great location, and a modern and light environment”.
He went on to say: “We are particularly pleased to bring the event to the North West as this remains the centre of the Government’s Northern Powerhouse plans”.
Last year’s event took place at Hilton Gateshead in Newcastle. McDonald isn’t the only one who’s excited that the summit is coming to the North this year. Theresa Grant – Trafford Council’s chief executive – has shared her thoughts on this year’s summit:
“It is great news that this prestigious event has chosen a venue that is literally on the doorstep of Trafford Council and one which we have a long and successful partnership with”.
“The summit is an opportunity to highlight all that is happening in Trafford and Greater Manchester and our part in the Northern Powerhouse”.
