Stabbing at Parklife: Did you see anything?

Since it began in 2011, Manchester’s Parklife festival has seen its fair share of incidents, perhaps most notably the death of Robert Hart in 2014, whose killer still remains at large.
The violence continued at this year’s event in Heaton Park where a 17 year-old boy was stabbed in the abdomen.
At around 7.45pm on Sunday 7 June, the 17-year-old victim was stood with his girlfriend and friends outside the Drop The Mustard tent at Parklife, Heaton Park where he was then kicked from behind by the offender and dragged to the floor and stabbed in his torso before the offender then ran off.
The offender is described as white of slim build and in his early 20’s, with mousey brown coloured hair just below his ears and hazel eyes. He was believed to have been accompanied by two other men.
Detective Constable Rick Pack said, “This was a completely unprovoked and violent attack on someone who was, up until that point, having a good time with his girlfriend and friends.
“The victim was stabbed between the rib cage and stomach and is lucky not to have suffered more of a serious injury.
“We believe after the stabbing, the offender returned when the victim was being treated by paramedics.  Thanks to witnesses, we now have an efit and I would ask anyone who may recognise the description or image, to contact police as soon as possible.”
The outbreak of violence erupting at the festival in the last two years is alarming.  It has seen the speed in which the tickets have been purchased suffer and go from selling out almost instantly to tickets still being available up until the day of the event.
