Stemettes social enterprise brings Hackathon event to Manchester

Stemettes, a group dedicated to encouraging girls to become involved in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM), are bringing one of their events to Manchester’s MediaCity on Saturday 28 November.

The event is called Stemettes Hack Manchester, and will be focused on learning how to code within computer games and animations.

The Stemettes are an award-winning social enterprise, who declare that their mission is: “to inspire the next generation of females into Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) fields, by showing them the amazing women already in STEM – via a series of panel events, hackathons, exhibitions and mentoring schemes”.

They are a group of volunteers who are already in the industry, using their expertise and passion to create events that inspire females around the country.

The Hackathon takes place at UTC@MediaCity UK on Saturday 28 November and Sunday 29 November, and people attending can expect to come out of the event having built their own computer game.

Stemettes Hackathon Manchester promises to be an exciting opportunity for the women of Manchester to get creative with their keyboards.
