Two Stockport County fans have challenged themselves to drive 1000 miles to visit all 22 National League North grounds in one weekend, in aid of the charity Kidscan.
Greg Hall of Sandbach is planning to make the journey with fellow Hatter Gareth Evans, of Macclesfield, on 25 June, and the pair are hoping to raise £1500 for the charity.
Having previously walked the 13 miles from Edgeley Park in Stockport to Macclesfield Town’s home at Moss Rose ahead of an away game in 2013, Greg told TNT he ‘just decided to step it up a gear.’
“We are again raising money for Kidscan, as they so desperately need support, and we would urge everyone to take a look at their website and then dig deep,” said Greg.
“25% of children who are diagnosed with cancer won’t see their 30th birthday. We can change that.”
Established in 2002, Kidscan are a Salford based charity researching improved treatments for children diagnosed with cancer.
Greg and Gareth, known as Sandy and Maccy among the Stockport County faithful, told TNT that they originally heard from the charity via the Stockport fan forum County Heaven.
The pair then organised the walk to Macclesfield in 2013, along with 16 other fans, before undertaking a round trip from County’s ground to Hyde FC two years later.
