A student at Mississippi State University died after falling 18ft from the top of a scoreboard at the school’s football stadium in the early hours of last Saturday.

Medics were called to the Davis Wade stadium at 1:30am on 7 May, where Andrew Scott Demboski, 21, of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, had suffered a cardiac arrest after hitting his head in the fall.

Tributes poured in for the junior environmental economics and management student, including his girlfriend, Marissa Gonzalez, who described their relationship as a ‘fairy tale’ in a Facebook post.

A graduation ceremony was scheduled for 10am on Saturday in the stadium, and the University have said that an investigation will take place.
