It’s the national festival that celebrates and showcases the very best youth dance work from across the country, and next year it is in Manchester.
2016’s U. Dance Festival will be at The Lowry, it has been announced. The four-day festival will be giving hundreds of young performers the chance to dance.
Situated in Media City in Salford Quays, The Lowry will host the prestigious festival “reaffirming the Salford arts venue’s reputation as the home of dance in the North West”, the arts and entertainment centre announced.
Taking place annually – having been in Plymouth last year – the festival in July 2016, will give hundreds of young dancers the opportunity to perform to an audience on The Lowry’s stage and to work alongside nationally renowned artists.
U.Dance aims to give every child and young person in England the opportunity each year to take part in a dance performance. Since the inception of U Dance, in 2008, over 188,000 young people have performed at a U. Dance registered event.
The Lowry is the North West home of partner companies Birmingham Royal Ballet and Rambert, who regularly bring world premieres and much-loved revivals to the Salford stage.
