A variety of girls and women competed in the 2015 Miss Amazing Pageant, a beauty contest that gives a platform for girls and women with special needs. Jordan Somer created Miss Amazing in 2007 in her hometown of Omaha, in an attempt to broaden the standards of beauty in the media. It has since grown into an annual, widespread competition hosted in 30 states.
Unlike conventional beauty competitions, the Miss Amazing Pageant focuses on self-confidence and talent. The non-profit organisation has inspired over 650 women with disabilities to take part in their competition, where the contestants are judged on how they present themselves and interact with the judges.
