American fashion designer Marc Jacobs has defended himself against allegations of racial insensitivity after he used dreadlocks in his New York fashion show but cast mainly white models to wear them.
Jacobs defended his use of dreadlocks citing he “does not see colour”.
The controversy has undoubtedly led to social media debates, some of which have been heated arguments for and against his decision.
Whilst many are outraged for using white models to wear dreadlocks, some are saying ‘what about black women who straighten their hair?’
Has Marc Jacobs stepped over the mark or is he justified in his decision to do so?
