Detectives investigating the rape of a woman in Manchester city centre have made two arrests.
On 22 November 2015, a 16-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of rape. Both suspects have now been bailed pending further enquiries.
At around 4am on Sunday 8 November 2015, a 39-year-old woman was out on a night in Manchester city centre and became separated from her party.
The female victim was stood outside AXM bar on Canal Street in the Gay Village, when she was approached by a man.
He walked the woman onto Attwood Street, at the side of the multi-storey car park, and then onto the entrance to the canal path before he raped her.
During the incident it appears that the offender is in company with another man as they are seen together on Canal Street.
Detective Inspector Damian Simpson said, “We are continuing to provide support to the victim in this case, who has understandably been left traumatised by what happened to her.
“We have arrested two men in connection with this investigation, which is very much ongoing and we continue to appeal for any witnesses or anyone who has any information that may help police, to please come forward”.
