Two arrests made over Trafford gunpoint robbery

Officers investigating the gunpoint robbery of a Trafford shop have made two arrests.

Police were called to the shop on Irlam Road, Flixton on Saturday 21 January 2017 at around 6.15pm. They responded to reports of an armed robbery.

A masked man entered the shop and pointed a handgun at a staff members face. He proceeded to demand cash and cigarettes before fleeing the scene. He was said to have fled on foot towards Kenilworth Road.

Following the launch of an investigation and the release of CCTV images, a youth presented himself at Stretford Police Station.

Two youths, aged 16 and 17 years, were arrested on suspicion of robbery. They have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Detective Constable Simon Johnson, of GMP’s Trafford Borough, said: “Thanks to the response from the CCTV, we have been able to move forward with our investigation.

“Our enquiries are still ongoing so if anyone is holding any information that would help us, please get in touch”.
