Two men are in custody following the disappearance of a mother and daughter in South Manchester.

Hadeer Jamil Alonazi – a woman in her 20s from Rusholme – was reported missing to police on 2 July 2019 and it’s thought she had not been seen for some time before that.

It was also reported that the whereabouts of her six-year-old daughter were unknown.

Detectives immediately launched an investigation and a scene is currently in place at a house on Hall Road in Rusholme. Specialist officers and staff have been at the house over the past week, gathering evidence which will hopefully lead them to find Hadeer.

Unfortunately, their enquiries have led them to believe that she may have come to harm before she was reported missing and may not be alive.

On 6 July 2019, two men, aged 40 and 43, were arrested on suspicion of Hadeer’s murder and remain in custody for questioning.

Detective Chief Inspector Liz Hopkinson of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “I appreciate that this is an unusual investigation but I can assure you that since we launched our investigation, we’ve been pursuing every single line of enquiry to help us find out what has happened to Hadeer.

“Now we are satisfied that Hadeer’s daughter has been located and is safe and well, we are able to confirm details and ask that anyone with information comes forward.

“While we are working on the hypothesis that Hadeer is not alive and we currently have two people in custody, I cannot stress the importance of people contacting us with information if they know anything at all.

“This may be something that you’ve noticed or been told and you may not feel that it is of any particular importance but please, pass it onto us and we will assess whether or not it is relevant to our investigation.
