Two men arrested after death of man in Salford

Two 24-year-old men have been arrested as part of an investigation into the death of a man in Salford.

On Wednesday 20 January 2016, at around 1.20am, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) was called to Irwell Street in Ordsall, following reports that a tent located under a railway bridge was on fire.

When Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue extinguished the fire, a man’s body was discovered in the tent.

The man has been identified as 23-year-old Daniel Smith. Specialist officers are now providing support to his family.

A Home Office post-mortem examination concluded that Daniel died from multiple injuries.

The pair arrested on suspicion of murder remains in police custody for questioning.
