Armed police were deployed to Crofts Bank Road at around 6pm on 14 April and the road was temporarily closed while they investigated the incident.

Two men, aged 53 and 41, have been arrested on suspicion of committing firearms offences and remain in police custody for questioning.

Greater Manchester Police’s Detective Sergeant Steve Warriner said: “I would like to reassure the community that no threat was made or directed towards a specific person and there should be no cause for concern amongst local residents”.
