Unmasking celebrates International Women’s Day

Guests gathered at Chuck Gallery to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) with the launch of Unmasking.

The International Women’s Day celebration was held at the local gallery on Saturday 4 March 2017. An inspirational local artist’s work – entitled ‘Unmasking’ – was showcased.

Artist Jessica Omitola’s Unmasking exhibition presents intriguing and brilliant illustrations of a varied range of female forms. Her work was appreciated by visitors, exceeding expectations.

The evening began with an address from the Chair of the night, Arlene Isaacs-Lowe. Issacs-Lowe encouraged attendees to be bold for change. Issacs-Lowe – who is an advocate for women – was accompanied by Janet Thomas and Annette Thiam.

Panellists who contributed to discussions – centred on the theme of IWD – included   Professor Femi and Professor Jan Oyebode.

Omitola’s Unmasking exhibition will be featured at the gallery until 2 April 2017.
