There has been an update in the Eccles murder investigation.
The 19-year-old man and 16-year-old boy who were arrested on suspicion of murder, have been bailed until Wednesday 21 September 2016 pending further enquiries.
A murder investigation was launched after a man was stabbed in Eccles.
On Monday 29 August 2016, shortly before 11.40pm, police were called to a report of fighting on Cambrai Street in Winton, Eccles.
Police and Ambulance services attended and found a 26-year-old man had been stabbed and was in a serious condition.
He was treated at the scene and then taken to hospital where sadly he later died.
Following the immediate murder investigation launched, a 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of murder.
Police are now appealing for anyone who may have seen the fighting or know what happened to get in touch.
Detective Chief Superintendent Russ Jackson, Head of Crime at GMP said: “This is a terrible incident where a young man has lost his life. My thoughts are with his family at this extremely difficult time.
“We believe there will be lots of witnesses to this incident. I appeal to anyone who saw what happened and anyone who saw the events before or after it to contact police.
