A man who was arrested following the murder of a man in Bolton, has been bailed.
Shortly after 10pm on Saturday 6 February police were called to Davenport Street, Bolton, to reports that a man had been attacked by a group of men. When officers attended they discovered a 39-year-old man with several stab wounds.
Despite the best efforts of the paramedics at the scene the man was sadly pronounced dead shortly after. A post mortem examination has confirmed that the man died from multiple stab wounds.
Further enquiries have established that the victim had been attacked by a number of men wearing dark clothing. Witnesses approached them to try and help the victim before the fugitives ran off. A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and has now been bailed, pending further enquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Howard Millington of the Greater Manchester Police Major Incident Team has said “Our thoughts continue to be with the family of this man during what must be such a terrible time for them”.
Mr. Millington also added “Our investigation is continuing and we have got a number of lines of enquiries that we are following however I would like to urge anybody with information, no matter how big or small, to please contact police. Any information you have may prove vital to this investigation”.
