Following the stabbing of a man on Alexandra Road South, near Alexandra Park, on the morning of 12 May, a man has been charged with attempted murder and appeared in Salford magistrates’ court on 15 May.
Police say the 18-year old victim was attacked by two men who then ran off into the Alexandra Park, which has now been cordoned off for most of the day.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Cunliffe, of South Manchester Police advised members of the Whalley Range community to remain calm despite the horrible nature of the crime.
He said: “When an incident like this happens, I understand it can cause a huge amount of distress in the community”.
The suspect Jose Henry, 19, of Billy Meredith Close, Moss Side, has been charged with attempted murder and possession with intent to supply a class B drug (cannabis).
He appeared in court last Friday to face the charges and he has now been “remanded in custody ahead of his next court appearance which will be at the crown court”, Greater Manchester Police told TNT.
