Year 8 students at William Hulme’s Grammar School (WHGS) took the title of Manchester Schools Track Cycling champions.
Manchester’s National Cycling Centre, saw WHGS mixed team taking part in 12 individual pursuit style races.
With just two points separating league table leaders Chorlton from William Hulme’s, the battle for the championship came down to the last race of the season. The WHGS team proving they had the stamina, winning 8 of the 12 races by beating Chorlton to take the title.
WHGS team members were Haneen Ashour, Yasmin Ali, Maisie Purdue, Saffah Rana, Fummi Osolake, Minnie Edwards-Kiely, Alfie Gibson, Ahmet Gulesen, Diallo Oakley, Muhammad Faisal, Oliver Pollitt, Jayden Bell and Amari Stewart-Rhoomes.
British Cycling’s Andy Adkin is now having the winners’ trophy engraved for the official presentation on Wednesday 19th July.
