Witness appeal after robbers target shop in Sale

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) is appealing for witnesses after robbers targeted a shop in Sale.

At around 6.50am on 9 December 2016, three men targeted the McColls shop on Coppice Avenue. One of the men was armed with a knife.

Staff members were threatened. They were also forced to the back of the shop. The men then stole money from the till and cigarettes from the display. They then fled the scene.

Police believe that the offenders drove an orange Nissan Juke car. Police are appealing for witnesses.

They want to speak to anyone who saw the car in the area the day before. If anyone saw the car leaving the scene they should also contact police. The car was later found burnt out nearby.

All three men were wearing dark clothes and face coverings. The man with the knife is described as white, 5ft 8in tall and of slim build.

GMP’s Amy Coleman says staff was ‘left shaken’ after being threatened with a knife. Coleman says it is ‘vital’ that GMP catch those responsible.

Members of the local community who saw the trio fleeing must contact police.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0161 856 0195, 101 quoting incident number 341 09/12/16. Crimestoppers can also be contacted anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
