A 19-year-old model from Denton, Greater Manchester, is counting her lucky stars after she suffered a blood clot on her brain because she was on the Pill.
Natalie Lovatt was struck down with devastating migraines a week after being prescribed the hormone-based contraceptive.
It was only after a CTI scan and an MRI scan in October last year that she learnt that the Pill prevented blood draining from her brain, which was the cause of the clot. The condition was discovered to be ‘cerebral venous sinus thromboses’.
Although the condition is rare, the teenager – who has now recovered – thought the contraceptive was “risk-free”.
