A woman has been raped at knifepoint in her house in Old Trafford.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) was called to the address after a 22-year-old woman reported she had been raped. The victim said a man had broken into her house at 7.30pm on Saturday, 12 November, before attacking her.
The man, described as a white male in his 20s to 30s, forced his way in with a knife. He then proceeded to threaten the woman to hand him over any money she had.
He then raped her at knifepoint and left some time later.
Detective Inspector Carl Gilbert of GMP’s Trafford borough described the attack as “brutal and terrifying”. He also urged anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious to come forward.
GMP understands that the rapist has a medium-build and dark hair, and spoke with a local accent. He was also wearing a dark-hooded top or coat with dark coloured bottoms and was unknown to the woman.
Police patrols are now present in the area to conduct further investigations and provide reassurance to the local community.
