Wythenshawe woman raises £1k for Cancer Research

A fundraiser in aid of Cancer Research UK was held on Saturday 27 June where over £900 was raised.
Tanisha Morales-Roper is still counting the money made from the thrilling bash held at the Hough End Centre on Mauldeth Road West where so far £916.50 has been raised thanks to the event and Taisha’s friends going the extra mile to raise more funds. One person even shaved off their tresses to support the cause.
Tanisha, a 26 year-old Events Management graduate, is overwhelmed by the support received and money raised. Thanking everyone involved, Tanisha said, “It was really stressful getting there right up until the day when the event that was using the venue before us ran over so that set us back. Everything was hectic but the end result was really good. I didn’t expect so much money to be raised or so many people to come through.
“There are so many people to thank; Patrick Baluwa, Esrene Hepburn, all of the artists and photographers, DJ Drizz, my dad who was compere for the night…
“I’m sure I’ve forgotten to mention someone!”
Tanisha spent months cold-calling and emailing several businesses big and small and ended up with a great selection of donations and sponsors such as Mama B’s- a local business close to her home in Wythenshawe.
She now plans to continue to use her degree and skills gained to fundraise for worthy causes and continue to work with and promote local Manchester businesses and talent.
“I think I’m going to work towards doing a big comedy show next year but in the mean time I’ll continue fundraising and networking, doing smaller events and get my company TMR Events out there.”
