Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is has ‘requested’ Liverpool star Sadio Mane as his first signing this summer.
The Frenchman rejoined Madrid earlier in March, taking over from Santiago Solar less than 48 hours after their Champions League exit to Ajax.
Zidane left the club after winning three consecutive Champions League titles and his decision was based on what he felt at the time was a refusal of the board to acknowledge that the club needed rebuilding.
Their performance have spelled that out this season and Zidane will be given around £250m to spend this summer on his squad this summer.
Zidane was said to be keen on Mane during his final season at the Bernabeu and Marca claim he wants Madrid to sign the Senegal forward this summer.
Mane, who is valued at around £73m, signed a new long-term deal with Liverpool last year and appears content at Anfield.
However, the lure of Madrid is difficult to turn down for any footballer and Zidane is said to personally demand the winger as part of his rebuilding job.
Madrid’s interest in Mane could be good news for Chelsea, who are fearful that Zidane’s return to the club will see Eden Hazard move to the Bernabeu.
